Homeopathy Effective for Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) The European Journal of Paediatrics has published a trial showing a positive effect for homeopathic treatment in the important area of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The newly published study used "as it is practised" individualised homeopathic treatment to treat the children in what was a randomised, double blind, placebo controlled crossover study. 'The trial suggests scientific evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy in the treatment of ADHD, particularly in the areas of behavioural and cognitive functions.' A total of 62 children between the ages of 6 and 16, who were diagnosed with ADHD, went through the trial. The children were split into two groups and received either verum for six weeks followed by placebo for six weeks, or vice-versa. Patients were tested using the Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI), as well as parents reporting on their childrens’ condition at the beginning of the trial and after each crossover period. Researchers found a significant long-term improvement after homeopathic treatment.

Royal London Homeopathic Hospital Reopens Europe's largest public hospital using homeopathy and other complementary health care therapies was officially re-opened on 12 October 2005 by HRH Prince Charles. The hospital, which has stood on the same site since 1840, has undergone a £20M programme of refurbishment and is now set to play its full role in the growing provision of CAM therapies in the UK National Health Service. Part of the original hospital has been taken up by the neighbouring Great Ormond Street Childrens' Hospital and this should encourage a program of mutual integration of both conventional and complementary health services that will enhance the health care of each child. In his speech the Prince of Wales acknowledged the important role that the hospital has played up until now in developing the programme of an integrated health agenda of which he has been such a longterm advocate and looked forward to an even greater contribution from the hospital in its newly refurbished form. The opening event was attended by Dr Xiaorui Zhang, Coordinator, Traditional Medicine, World Health Organization. The Hospital's clinical director Dr Peter Fisher said that rather than the refurbishment being a dream come true it has set the agenda for a much bigger dream to come true in the future. |

Homeopathy found effective for menopausal problems In a survey of 124 women suffering menopausal complaints more than 80 percent reported improvement in their symptoms after homeopathic treatment. The greatest response was seen in those reporting headaches, vasomotor symptoms, emo-tional / psychological symptoms and tiredness / fatigue as their primary symptoms. Treatment was provided at Sheffield’s National Health Service community menopause clinic, which has offered homeopathy since 1998. The service is provided for women with distressing menopausal symptoms who are not taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) because it produced intolerable side-effects, they do not want to take it or they found it ineffective.
